DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Brianna Sanders went 4-4, and
Kaitlin Alamprese went 3-3 with a homer and 3 RBI in Bethune-Cookman's 13-7 Senior Day loss to Florida A&M Sunday at Sunnyland Park.
Scoring 11 runs in the fifth and sixth innings, the Rattlers (18-27 overall, 13-2 Mid- clinched the Southern Division No.1 seed for next month's conference tournament in Ormond Beach. The Wildcats (21-29,11-4) will be the No. 2 seed.
The Wildcats took a 3-0 second inning lead when
Kailey Richard scored on a fielder's choice, and
Yvonne Siordia and Almaprese scored on
Mariah Davis' single. Florida A&M plated two in the third, but the Wildcats made it a 4-2 when Alamprese singled home Sanders.
After Florida A&M took the lead with a six-run fifth, Bethune-Cookman cut to 8-7 when Richard led off with a homer, then Alamprese smacked a two-run shot that scored her and Sanders.
The Rattlers pulled away with a five-run sixth.
Davis and Richard each had two hits for the Wildcats.
Bethune-Cookman hosts UCF Wednesday for a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
