DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman dropped a non-conference doubleheader to UCF in its regular season finale Wednesday at Sunnyland Park, falling 6-1 in the opener and 5-4 in the night cap.
Sasha Killings' two-run homer in the second gave the Wildcats a one-run lead, but the Knights (27-21) tied the game in the fifth and then scored three in the sixth.
Anne Bakenhaus scored on
Kailey Richard's fielder's choice, and
Ryan Jackson drove home
Kaitlin Alamprese as B-CU cut it to 5-4, but could come no closer.
Alamprese had three hits and
Iesha Waters two for B-CU in the second game.
Sabrina Anguiano (11-10) took the loss.
In the opener, UCF jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead, and then relied on freshman Alea White's complete game five-hitter to register the victory.
The Wildcats scored their lone run in the second when
Iesha Waters singled home
Kailey Richard. Alamprese had a double, Sanders had a single and
Yvonne Siordia had a single and a stolen base..
Mariah Estrada (7-6) took the loss.
Bethune-Cookman finished the regular season 21-31 after a 1-18 start. Next up for the Wildcats is the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament May 11-13 in Ormond Beach, Fla, where they will be the No.2 seed from the Southern Division.
