Story Lines
• This weekend's game marks the first of four consecutive away games to begin the 2017 campaign. Dating back to last season, BCU will have played seven consecutive games away from Municipal Stadium before the home opener on Sept. 30 vs. MEAC foe Savannah State.
• The Wildcats have lost their last three games against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponents which includes UCF (2014), Miami (2015) and North Texas (2016) in the current streak. The last FBS win came at FIU to begin the 2014 season.
• Michael D. Jones returns to the BCU offensive backfield for the first time since the 2015 Florida Blue Florida Classic win over Florida A&M, as the redshirt senior running back missed all of 2016 due to an injury.
• Bethune-Cookman will be seeking its first season opening win since 2014 when BCU took down FIU, 14-12 in Miami.
• Redshirt senior wide receiver Jawill Davis has caught a pass in 21 consecutive games – the longest active streak on the current roster.

Series Notes
• Miami owns a 3-0 all-time record against Bethune-Cookman.
• The two teams first met at Sun Life Stadium on Oct. 1, 2011, with the Canes taking a 45-14 decision. However, in that game, the Wildcats led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, and trailed just 24-14 heading into the final stanza.
• In 2012, BCU held the lead again for 12 seconds in the first quarter (7-0), until Miami's Duke Johnson started a 24-0 Hurricanes run on the strength of a 95-yard kickoff return for touchdown.
• The 2015 season opener for both teams was delayed for almost two hours due to storms. The third and fourth quarters were shortened to 10 minutes each.

The Broadcasts

The Weather

#GimmeFive
1. Bethune-Cookman head coach Terry Sims will be seeking his first season opening win as a collegiate head coach.
2. Bethune-Cookman has faced two (2) ACC opponents all-time in the form of Florida State (2014) and Miami (2011, '12, '15).
3. Bethune-Cookman is seeking its third win all-time against an FBS opponent.
4. Bethune-Cookman has four quarterbacks that can come into the game at any time in the form of Collyn Anderson,
Larry Brihm Jr., Jabari Dunham and Akevious Williams.
5. BCU has five players projected to start against Miami that did not serve as regular starters in 2016.

#SuberFast
• Bethune-Cookman head coach Terry Sims and Offensive Coordinator Allen Suber have continued the upbeat pace of the Wildcats offense.
• Drives that consist of three minutes (3:00) or less are called "Lightning Strikes", with the quick pace of the offense striking fast like lightning.
• New offensive coordinator Allen Suber projects this season's offense to be even faster than years past.

What's the Word
• Each team throughout the 2017-18 BCU athletic year will have a word that represents the program.
• The word for BCU Football is "Resurge". The meaning comes from the team and Head Coach Terry Sims looking for a resurgence in 2017. The team endured an uncharacteristic 4-6 season last year, marking the first losing campaign at Bethune-Cookman since 2009.

Against the Rankings
• The loss to No. 15 North Carolina A&T at home in 2016 marked the third consecutive loss for the Wildcats against a ranked opponent. However, one of those teams in the current stretch was No. 8 (FBS) Florida State – eventually winning the national championship in 2013 with Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston.
• This weekend's game marks the first time BCU has faced Miami when the Hurricanes have been ranked in either the Associated Press or Coaches' Top 25 poll.
