@BCUvolleyball Match Day: Florida A&M

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman celebrates Homecoming with its first home volleyball match of the season Friday when the Lady Wildcats host Florida A&M Friday at 4 p.m. in Historic Moore Gymnasium.

The Lady Wildcats (7-9 overall, 0-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) are one of only five Division I teams – Green Bay, Binghamton, Jackson State and Grambling State are the others – who have yet to play at home this season.  Five of the next six matches will be at home. B-CU is  0-7 in true road games this season, including the last four.

It's a crucial MEAC Southern Division match as well. Florida A&M (3-12,2-0) swept its swing at North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central while the Lady Wildcats were swept on a road swing for the first time in the Brittany Williams era.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Lady Wildcats are 10-0 in Moore Gym in MEAC play under Williams, including 2-0 against them Rattlers. In 2016, B-CU played its home matches at Warner Christian Academy while Moore Gym was being renovated. Florida A&M was the lone blemish in the conference schedule that year.

THE TIDES ARE TURNING: B-CU and FAMU have split the last four meetings after FAMU won the first 48, including last year's home-and-home exchange.

STATS AND STUFF:  Meraiah Hill and Delaine Fulton are 1-3 in the MEAC in blocks, averaging 1.17 and 1.09 per set, respectively … Tynesha Adams is eighth in hitting percentage (.236), J'nai Higgins seventh in assists (6.34 per set, Shayla Eugene eighth in digs (3.34 per set) and Jordan Jefferson seventh in kills (3.24 per set) and third in digs (4.03).  B-CU leads the MEAC in blocks (2.3 per set) and is second in digs (15.26 per set).

ABOUT FAMU: The Rattlers struggled mightily during non-conference play but have rallied to win their last three. Maria Yvette Garcia leads the team in kills at a 3.71 per set clip.

FRIDAY'S COVERAGE: The match will be available on CATEYE Network with the soothing sounds of Nolan Alexander and Willie Love on the call. Follow the match with live stats and twitter updates at @BCUvolleyball.
