DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman's Jordan Jefferson and Shayla Eugene were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's Volleyball Player Of The Week and Defensive Specialist Of The Week, it was announced Monday, October, 2018.

Jefferson, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, averaged five digs and three kills per set this past weekend, and her 17-kill, 21-dig effort on Saturday against Florida A&M helped the Lady Wildcats notch their first conference win of the season. Jefferson also had a pair of service aces in that match, and she followed that performance with  14 digs in a non-conference match against FIU.

Eugene, a junior from Fort Worth, Texas, averaged nearly five and a half digs per set this past weekend. She had 25 digs in Friday's four-set win over Florida A&M and then posted 13 against FIU.

This is the fourth weekly award for Jefferson and the first for Eugene this season.

Bethune-Cookman (8-10) travels to Florida Atlantic Tuesday evening, then hosts a pair of crucial MEAC matches against South Carolina State and Savannah State on Friday and Sunday.
