DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Women's Head Basketball Coach
Vanessa Blair-Lewis today [November 19, 2018) enthusiastically and officially announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.
Morgan Beacham, Tatum Hayes and Imani Reid are set to join the three-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions for the 2019-2020 season.
"Perhaps one of our finest recruiting efforts ever," Blair-Lewis said. "Three outstanding players and students of the game who can help continue and maintain our championship caliber program."
Beacham, a 5-7 guard from Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange HS averaged 14.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.6 steals per game last season is regarded as the Orlando area's best point guard, if not the state.
Blair-Lewis on Beacham: She can do a little of everything with her height (5'7"), including being an incredible defender. We are most excited about her vocal leadership, work ethic and high basketball IQ. Morgan is a true gym rat and someone we see as a program changing player."
Hayes, a 5-7 guard from Ft. Myers (Fla.) HS has been a part of three consecutive Florida state championship teams. She averaged 11.2 ppg last season and shot 37 percent from three-point range. She's also played for the Tampa Thunder AAU team that produced
Angel Golden, BCU's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
Blair-Lewis on Hayes:Â Tatum is known as a shooter, but is also a very good passer and ball handler with a very high IQ. Tatum is also very good defensively and is very feisty on the defensive end of the floor. She is a very tough and hard-nosed player.
Â
Reid, a 5-10 forward from Hammond HS in Columbia, hails from a competitive region that saw her face current BCU guard
Kiana Williams in conference play and on the same AAU program as current guard
Tania White.
Â
Blair-Lewis on Reid: Imani can do a little bit of everything and we are most excited about her versatility as a forward on both offense and defense. She can attack and finish at the rim, hit the mid-range jumper and extend the floor to the three."
Bethune-Cookman, off to a 2-1 start, hosts FIU Tuesday at 5 p.m.
