Receiver turned running back picks up weekly honors

November 05, 2018

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – It was announced Monday evening that Jimmie Robinson was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week by the league office in Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, Robinson was selected as the BoxToRow National Player of the Week – becoming the first Wildcats performer to collect the weekly honor from BoxToRow in 2018.

Jimmie Robinson, a senior receiver from Palm Coast, Florida, saw action for the first time all season at the running back position, sharing time with fellow backs Tupac Isme, Isaac Washington and LaDerrien Wilson. For Robinson, it was his first Offensive Player of the Week award, while he was selected Specialist of the Week against Howard from the Wildcats game against the Bison in the 35th Circle City Classic played in Indianapolis.

Robinson, a 5-6, 165-pound speedster, accounted for three of the four offensive touchdowns scored by Bethune-Cookman in the Wildcats' 30-28 road win over league opponent Morgan State in Baltimore, Maryland. He rushed for a career-best 208 yards on just 11 carries, bursting for scores of 60, 61 and 65 yards, respectfully.

Howard defensive back Tye Freeland and Delaware State defensive back Jahad Neibauer shared Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Florida A&M's Xavier Smith was named Rookie of the Week. North Carolina A&T State's Malik Wilson was tabbed Specialist of the Week, while North Carolina A&T State's Micah Shaw earned Offensive Lineman of the Week honors.

Bethune-Cookman returns to action for action Thursday, Nov. 8, when the Wildcats host North Carolina Central to Daytona Stadium in an ESPNU-televised contest at 7 p.m.
