Bethune-Cookman concludes its 2018 regular season this weekend with a two-match road swing including South Carolina State Friday at 6 p.m. and Savannah State Sunday at 1 p.m.
Much is at stake for the Lady Wildcats (13-15 overall, 5-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division) and can be solved simply by winning both matches.
If that happens, BCU takes the division's No. 2 seed for next week's conference tournament in Washington. The Lady Wildcats have the tiebreaker with North Carolina A&T. A No. 2 seed would have BCU facing either Morgan State or Coppin State -- two teams they defeated this season -- in the opening round.
Two victories would also give BCU its first non-losing regular season since 2004.
Both South Carolina State (1-24,1-7) and Savannah State (3-19,2-6) have been eliminated from tournament qualification.
BCU UPDATE: The Lady Wildcats lead the league in blocks per set (2.39) and digs (16.57)…
Meraiah Hill is all but assured of the
MEAC season blocks per set title; she's posted 114 this season …
Jordan Jefferson is also entrenched in kills (6th 3.37 per set) and digs (4th, 3.18) as is
J'nai Higgins in assists (7th, 7.07) and
Shayla Eugene (6th, 3.57);
Faith Landreneaux can move up from fifth in hitting percentage (.270) and eighth in service aces per set (0.37).
