DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Angel Golden became Bethune-Cookman's 11th recorded 1,000 point scorer, and
Kiana Williams posted 23 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as the Lady Wildcats defeated North Florida 76-60 Saturday afternoon in Historic Moore Gym.
The senior from Tampa surpassed the century mark on a jumper with 1:39 remaining in the third quarter and finished with 18 points to help Bethune-Cookman (6-3) remain unbeaten at home (5-0) this season.
Chasimmie Brown also doubled-doubled with 12 points and 11 rebounds while
Amaya Scott added 10 as the Lady Wildcats erased a 33-27 halftime deficit.
BCU used a 9-0 run at the start of the third quarter to gain the lead, but North Florida (4-4) would lead 47-43 with 2:06 left in the period. Golden's 3-pointer keyed a 10-2 run --- with Williams scoring five -- as BCU took a 53-49 lead entering the fourth.
North Florida managed just one basket in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, and BCU extended its lead to 62-51 on a Scott jumper with 5:32 remaining. North Florida never got closer than nine after that.
Williams, a freshman, was 8-16 from the field and 6-9 from the field for BCU, who held UNF to 4-13 shooting in the fourth quarter.
Ari Emanuel-Wright scored 18 points for North Florida, who led 23-12 early in the second quarter.
BCU travels to Atlanta for the Georgia State Christmas Tournament, facing Kennesaw State Thursday and Georgia State Friday.
