ATLANTA -- Angel Golden scored 24 points, including the go-ahead three-pointer with 20.3 seconds remaining as Bethune-Cookman rallied for a 64-61 victory over Kennesaw State in the Georgia State Holiday Classic Thursday afternoon.
The senior from Tampa scored 13 of the Lady Wildcats' 15 fourth-quarter points, including the final seven as BCU (7-3) erased a 61-55 Kennesaw State (3-9) lead in the final 2:28.
Amaya Scott began the run, then Golden hit a jumper to close it to two, then sank her three-pointer in traffic to give BCU a 62-61 lead.
The Lady Wildcats forced a traveling violation, then Golden made two free throws with 2.3 seconds left.
Kiana Williams had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists, while
Chasimmie Brown had 11 points and seven rebounds -- three of those in the fourth quarter as she keyed BCU's defense down the stretch -- as BCU won its third straight.
Alexis Poole posted a 20-point 12-rebound double-double for the Owls, who turned a 55-49 deficit into a 61-55 lead with a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter.
BCU trailed 16-13 at the end of the first quarter, but quickly tied it at the start of the second on a
Tania White three-pointer and then took a 19-16 lead on Golden's three-pointer on the next possession. The Owls managed a late 29-29 tie before a Golden free throw and a Kendall Fincher basket off an offensive rebound just before the buzzer made it a 32-29 halftime lead.
Golden's three-pointer with 7:52 left in the third gave BCU its biggest lead at 39-31.
White had five points and five rebounds in 22 minutes for the Lady Wildcats.
BCU will face host Georgia State Friday at 3 p.m.
