HAMDEN, Conn. – Mark Gordon scored a season-high 19 points off the bench, and
Cletrell Pope collected his seventh overall and third consecutive double-double, but Quinnipiac's hot-shooting night sunk Bethune-Cookman, 87-63, Wednesday night at the People's United Center. BCU dropped to 4-9, and QU moved to 5-5.Â

In the first all-time meeting between the programs, the Bobcats led for 38:21 and placed six players in double-figures, led by Cameron Young's 18.

BCU however tried to keep pace with a 47% success rate in the second half and made five of 10 three's, highlighted by Gordon's trio of trifectas.

A key difference in the game came at the charity stripe, where BCU was whistled for 16 fouls that led to a 16-22 free throw showing. Meanwhile, the Wildcats had only six free throw opportunities and could not cash in on any.

Pope's double-double came from 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Shawntrez Davis, playing in his first game in nearly a month, scored 10 while recording six rebounds and three assists.

Quinnipiac held serve for most of the first half and led for 18:35. The Bobcats converted six of 13 three-point attempts and made eight of 12 free throws. BCU meanwhile only shot a pair of free throws that came inside the under-four timeout. Â

Jacob Rigoni delivered on all four of his three-point attempts in the opening half and Cameron Young poured in 10 points as QU shot 48% from the floor in the half. The Bobcats led by as much as 16 on a Young three at 1:37.
