DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Angel Golden scored 28 points to close in on the 1,000 point career mark as Bethune-Cookman downed Flagler 74-59 Sunday afternoon in Historic Moore Gym.
The senior from Tampa now needs 10 points to become the tenth Lady Wildcat recorded to score 1,000 points. She did it Sunday with her sixth 20-point game of the season as BCU (5-3) improved to 4-0 at home.
Golden scored the final five points of the first quarter – she had 10 – to push BCU to a 24-17 lead entering the second frame. She had nine more in the second quarter as the Lady Wildcats extended their lead to 41-25 at halftime.
Camary Harris gave BCU its biggest leads with third quarter baskets that made 56-33 and 58-35.
Chasimmie Brown, who was 6-7 from the field, added 13 points, while Harris, a freshman making her first career start and
Amaya Scott each scored 11. Scott's stat line included a game-high eight rebounds and three assists.
Chris Wilson led Flagler (4-3) with 15 points.
BCU hosts North Florida next Saturday at 3 p.m.
NOTES: BCU shot a season-high 52.6 percent from the field overall and from 3-point range (37.5) as well as matching the season high of 11 steals … Golden and Brown each had a season-high of three steals…BCU now 36-7 at home dating back to 2015.
