SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Bethune-Cookman tennis made it a 4-for-4 weekend as both teams swept North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T. The Wildcat men concluded the sweep Sunday with a 4-3 win over North Carolina Central at Bacon Park.
Juan Diego Ruiz' 7-5,4-6,6-3 victory over Maksym Konovaloc at No. 4 singles gave the Wildcats (3-5 overall, 2-0) the victory.
North Carolina Central (0-9,0-3) took the doubles point, but the Wildcats responded in singles play as all six players won their first set.
Juan Navarro, Phillip Lynch and
Jose Plazas took their respective matches to give Bethune-Cookman a 3-1 lead.
On Saturday, Bethune-Cookman downed North Carolina A&T 6-1 for a victory that both surpassed its 2017 victory total and ended a four-match conference losing streak.
Victor Bravo, Plazas,
David Ocampo and Phillip Lynch each won at both singles and
doubles.
Bethune-Cookman hosts George Washington Tuesday.
WOMEN: B-CU 4 NORTH CAROLINA A&T 3
Matea Roki's 6-2 6-4 victory over Sheyla Ramirez at No. 1 singles gave Bethune-Cookman (2-5,2-0) a 4-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic  Conference victory over North Carolina A&T Saturday.
Alejandra Vidal won her third straight singles match as the Wildcats made it 2-0 on their conference opening weekend. Rehanna Butt, along with Roki and Vidal, swept her singles and doubles matches.
Bethune-Cookman hosts Northern Illinois Wednesday.
