DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Head Volleyball Coach
Brittany Williams officially announced the signing of three players to National Letters Of Intent today [April 23,2018], concluding the assemblage of a recruiting class that will expected to produce big things throughout the coming years in Daytona Beach.
The Lady Wildcats graduated six players last season, along with losing to one to attrition. This class give Williams a complete roster of 15 heading into the 2018 campaign.
"It might take a while for everyone to get to know everyone, but I'm very exciting about this group," Williams said. "They are all proven and come from strong programs and will be joining our core that has this program on the verge of great things."
The three newcomers:
Shayla Eugene (5-4, DS-Libero, Fort Worth (Tex.) Panola College]
The Buzz: An all-district performer in high school who has spent the past two seasons at a competitive junior college program.
Williams says: "She has experience at the championship level. She will help to round out a strong defensive group."
Jade Smith [6-1, MB/OPP, Phoenix (Az.), Arcadia HS]
The Buzz: An all-city and all-region performer that helped Arcadia HS make a playoff run in 2016.
Williams says: ""Jade is a kid we've watched since she was a sophomore and we are super excited for what she will bring to the program both offensively and defensively. She will be a big presence in the gym for us next season."
Sterling Williamson [6-0, OH/OPP, Phoenix (Az), Sante Fe CC]
The Buzz: Played against Smith while leading O'Connor HS to two regional championships, played on Jr. National champion teams in 2013 and 2014 and was a First Team All Conference selection at Sante Fe last year.
Williams says: "Sterling will bring a lot of depth at the pin position for us this season. She's a proven leader and comes from a very strong background and has been successful at all levels she's competed. She will play a big part for us offensively next season"
These three join Kortney Curtis, Jordyn Chenault, DeLaine Fulton Ryleigh Taylor and Skyla Whitaker – whose signings have been previously announced.
The Lady Wildcats posted a 12-14 overall record in their 2017 campaign, including a 9-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division mark that produced their second No. 1 seed for the MEAC tournament in three seasons.
