DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman's tennis teams will stay close to home during their four-tournament fall season beginning with Friday's Embry-Riddle Invitational.
Both Wildcat teams are in action this weekend, then will play in the HBCU National Championships the following weekend at the USTA Tennis Center in Lake Nona. The HBCU National Championships had previously been held outside Atlanta.
The Wildcat Men will return to Lake Nona for the Bedford Cup, featuring the state Division's I teams September 28-30 while the Women will travel to Miami for their Bedford Cup October 14-16.
The highlight of the fall will be October 28-30 when B-CU hosts the 4
th Annual Juan Varon Wildcat Invitational at Florida Tennis Center. Named in honor of the late men's tennis captain, the tournament offers a rare opportunity for players to compete on clay courts.
"We're excited that the Juan Varon Wildcat Invitational continues and will cap off a fall that will prepare us for a run at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship," Villucci said.
The Lady Wildcats finished 9-8 last season and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals while the men qualified for the tournament after a one-year absence.

Jose Plazas and
Juan Navarro are back from last year's team, as well as sophomore Phillip Lynch.
WOMEN'S UPDATE: Karen Romero and
Phatsimo Ruele are back from last year's MEAC semifinal team and will be teamed in doubles. The newcomer on the women's side is Michelle Neube.
