NORFOLK, Va. – For the second time in as many weeks, Bethune-Cookman's
Akevious Williams has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon from its headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia.

In a 49-28 setback against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent Florida Atlantic over the weekend,
Akevious Williams came off the bench for the third consecutive game to spark the Wildcats offense. The 6-3, 185-pound redshirt junior from Madison, Florida finished the game with 201 yards passing and three touchdowns with 18 completions on 27 attempts. He would add a rushing touchdown with 23 yards on four carries overall. For Williams, it was his second consecutive game accounting for at least four touchdowns.

In related MEAC weekly awards news, Morgan State's Donte Small was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Morgan State's Josh Miles received Offensive Lineman of the Week honors. Xavier Smith of Florida A&M was named Rookie of the Week while Florida A&M's Chris Faddoul was tabbed as the Specialist of the Week.

Bethune-Cookman opens MEAC play this weekend against Howard, as the two teams meet in the Circle City Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana. The game is set for Saturday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m., and will be broadcast live on ESPN3 with a tap delay on ESPNU later that evening.
