DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman's
Miranda White was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Volleyball Co-Player Of The Week while
Jordan Jefferson was named Defensive Specialist Of The Week, it was announced today (September 17, 2018).
White, a junior from Downey, Calif., registered the program's best offensive output since 2011 with 25 kills in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Brown at the Stetson Invitational. She opened the weekend with a 16-kill, 13-dig performance in a four-set win over Chicago State – a match in which she also had three blocks – and she followed that up with 17 kills against Stetson.
Jefferson, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas) averaged 4.6 digs per set this past weekend and recorded double-doubles in all three matches. Jefferson racked up a career-high 25 digs against tournament host Stetson and added another 24 in a four-set win over Brown. Against Chicago State, Jefferson had 11 digs and two blocks – and she recorded double-doubles in all three matches. This is her third Conference award of the season after being named Co-Player Of The Week the previous two.
Bethune-Cookman (7-6) travels to North Florida (4-10) Tuesday at 6 p.m. in its final tune-up before opening Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Sept. 28 at North Carolina Central.
