@BCUvolleyball Match Day: NCCU and NCAT

DURHAM, N.C. – Bethune-Cookman opens its 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schedule Friday at North Carolina Central followed by a Sunday afternoon matinee at North Carolina A&T.

The Lady Wildcats (7-7) are going for their second straight Southern Division #1 seed for the conference tournament and third in four years under Head Coach Brittany Williams. B-CU is 26-4 in MEAC play in the Williams era.

These are the final two games of a 16-match road trip to start the season for B-CU, which plays its first home match Friday, October 5 against Florida A&M at 4 p.m.

ROAD WORRIERS: B-CU is 0-5 in true road games this season.– four tournament against the host team and one at North Florida last week. The last road win? At North Carolina Central in the 2017 regular season finale on November 12.

7 AND 7: B-CU hasn't been 7-7 after 14 matches since 2014, its last winning season. Those Lady Wildcats did win their 15th match, a 3-0 decision over Coppin State to go 8-7.

DO YOU REMEMBER THE 5 LADY WILDCATS WINS IN SEPTEMBER:  Bethune-Cookman's five September wins are the most September wins in the Williams. A sweep of the weekend would match October 2017 for the most wins in a month.

STATS AND STUFF: Meraiah Hill and Delaine Fulton are 1-2 in the MEAC in blocks, averaging 1.16 and 1.15 blocks, respectively. J'nai Higgins is seventh in assists (6.46 per set); Tynesha Adams ninth in hitting (.215) and Sterling Williamson tenth in kills (2.59 per set).  Jordan Jefferson is sixth in kills (3.19), digs (3.94) and scoring (3.56).

SCOUTING NCCU: The Eagles (2-9) have wins against Jackson State and Delaware State. Whitney White and Morgan Goodwin could make this a block party match – they're ranked third and fourth in the MEAC in blocks.

SCOUTING NCAT: The Aggies (5-8) started the season 3-0 by sweeping the SWAC's Alabama A&M, Alabama State and Jackson State before losing seven straight. Then they beat Morgan State and Coppin State from the MEAC North before falling to Howard. Courteney Pitt is second in the MEAC in kills with 3.83 per set.
