Pope Earns Another MEAC Honor

Forward Totaled Career Night Saturday

NORFOLK, Va.— Junior forward Cletrell Pope of Bethune-Cookman was named as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week. It is the fourth such honor for Pope.
 .
Pope (6-9, Jr., F, Northport, Ala.) became just the eighth player in the nation to post a 20/20 game when he scored 24 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in BCU's setback to Morgan State on Saturday. On Monday at Coppin State, Pope had another double-double, grabbing 16 boards while netting 14 points. He also made two steals and dished out one assist in that contest. Pope leads the nation with an average of 4.45 offensive rebounds a game and ranks 16th nationally with 7.65 defensive boards a game.

He joined Western Michigan's Seth Dugan as the only players with at least 24 points and 22 rebounds (Dugan totaled 32 on Nov. 6), and only the 8th since 2010-11 to go 24/22 with at least 10 offensive rebounds.

BCU returns home to square off against North Carolina Central on Saturday, Feb. 2.
