PONTE VEDRA, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman's
Sumie Francois picked up her first top finish of the season and fifth of her career Tuesday as the Lady Wildcats tied for tenth at the BUBBA Burger Jacksonville Classic at Marsh Landing Country Club.
The junior tied for sixth as she carded a 54-hole total of 222 (73-73-76) and was 12 shots off medalist Hanna Ahlander of Nova Southeastern's 210. Her previous low this year was a 225 at South Alabama.
BCU's team total was 924.
Isabela Miravite tied for 42nd at 234 (78-76-80), while
Ana Ferreyra Heit (81-75-79 235),
Isabell Friberg (80-75-80 235) and
Maria Cowan (81-76-78 235) all tied for 45th.
"We are making progress toward our ultimate goal," said Interim Head Coach Robert "Tony" O'Neal. "I am pleased with the way the team is growing as one unit."
The Lady Wildcats return to action at FAU October 13-15.
