DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --
Akevious Williams threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns to
Jimmie Robinson as Bethune-Cookman defeated Morgan State 31-20 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Saturday before a crowd of 5,642 at Daytona Stadium.
Robinson finished with five catches for 136 yards and scored on second-half touchdowns of 70, 6 and 44 yards as the Wildcats (4-1 overall, 2-0 MEAC) pulled away from a 10-6 halftime lead.
The senior from Palm Coast, Fla, who also scored three touchdowns against Morgan State (0-5,0-2) in last year's game, a 30-28 Bethune-Cookman win. The last Wildcat receiver to score three touchdowns in a game was
Frank Brown against North Carolina A&T in 2016.
Williams also rushed for 114 yards, including a 64-yard second quarter touchdown that gave the Wildcats a 10-3 lead in their home opener.
After allowing a late first-half field goal, Bethune-Cookman took control with two third-quarter touchdowns.
Williams hit Robinson for the 70-yard strike on the Wildcats' opening possession of the third quarter. The Wildcat defense forced a quick Morgan State punt, then Williams manufactured a nine-play, 71-yard drive that culminated with him hitting Robinson on a 6-yard swing pass that gave BCU a 24-6 lead with 7:42 left in the third quarter.
Morgan State closed to 24-13 on quarterback De'Andre Harris's one-yard keeper with 11:06 remaining, but Robinson effectively sealed the deal when he took a third down screen pass to the house on a 44-yarder with 4:40 left.

Xavier McDonald put the first points on the board with a 39-yard first quarter field goal.
Que'shaun Byrd finished with 83 yards rushing on 13 carries and one catch for 18, while
Isaac Washington had 51 on seven attempts. On defense,
Tydarius Peters had an interception while
Marquis Hendrix,
Jamarquis Reeves and
Gerome Howard had sacks.
Bethune-Cookman travels to North Carolina Central Thursday.
NOTES: This was Williams' third career game with 100 yards rushing and passing … The Wildcats have scored 30 or more three times this season and in four of the last six games.
