Shayla Eugene has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Specialist of The Week, it was announced today [October 7, 2019].
The senior from Fort Worth, Texas averaged 5.8 digs per set in three matches this past week – including a career-high 28 on Friday in a four-set win over South Carolina State. She ended the week with 19 digs in three sets against Stetson. Eugene also had 11 digs against Jacksonville.
Eugene is currently eighth in the MEAC in digs with an average of 3.62 per set.
The Lady Wildcats (5-12 overall, 2-1 MEAC) begin a five-match home stand against arch-rival Florida A&M (3-12,2-1) Tuesday at 6 p.m.
