Texas Tech Tops @BCUhoops 79-44

LUBBOCK,  Tex. -- The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats suffered a 79-44 loss to No. 13 Texas Tech that saw seniors Malik Maitland and Isaiah Bailey stepped up for the Wildcats after Cletrell Pope found himself in foul trouble.
 
Along with Bailey, Maitland paced Bethune-Cookman, scoring seven points in the second half and leading the Wildcats with 13 points overall. Along with his seven points in the second half, Maitland grabbed four rebounds, finishing the game with six.

Bailey added 11.
 
Texas Tech (2-0) scored the game's first seven points, then pulled away to a 40-19 halftime lead.
 
The game remained close throughout the majority of the first half with the Wildcats (1-1) hindering the Red Raiders' offense. After about nine minutes of the first half, Bethune-Cookman cut Tech's lead to four points with a layup by Redd.
 
Foul trouble kept Pope quiet in the first half after he picked up three and early in the second half, he picked up his fourth foul on an offensive charge. Despite only being on the floor for 27 minutes due to foul trouble, Pope recorded a team-high seven rebounds in the second half, putting him at eight for the night.
 
On the defensive end, Parks led the Wildcats with two blocks and two steals. Pope followed with two blocks and a single steal as the team recorded a total of five blocks and five steals against the Red Raiders.
 
The Wildcats also forced 15 turnovers against the defending national runners-up.
 
BCU travels to Omaha, Neb., on Nov. 11 for a non-conference game against Nebraska-Omaha.
