OMAHA, Neb. – Joe French scored 19 points in Bethune-Cookman's 90-61 setback to Nebraska-Omaha Monday night at Baxter Arena.
The freshman from Orlando was 7-12 from the field, including 3-6 from behind the arc as he led the Wildcats (1-2) in scoring for the second time this season.
Cletrell Pope was the other Wildcat in double figures with 12 points. He also had a team-high eight rebounds.
JT Gibson's 26 points led five players in double figures as the host Mavericks (2-1) shot 67.9 percent from the first half en route to a 47-27 halftime. BCU went scoreless for a 7:44 stretch that allowed UNO to go on a 17-0 run.
BCU got as close as 51-37 on a
Jordan Preaster jumper with 15:49 remaining but could pull no closer.
Isaiah Bailey scored eight points for the Wildcats, while Preaster and
Wali Parks (seven rebounds) each scored six.
The Wildcats return home to host Trinity Baptist Friday at 7 p.m.
