DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Tatum Hayes scored 18 points and
Daniella Hatcher 13 as Bethune-Cookman scored the first 16 points en route to a 68-45 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday in Historic Moore Gym.
Hayes, a freshman, was 6-10 from three-point range as the Wildcats (6-1) posted their best start after seven games since the 1985-86 team also started 6-1.
Hatcher scored six first-quarter points as BCU held the Sailfish (1-8) the first 5:58. The Lady Wildcats led 22-6 after the first quarter.
Ashlie Howell added nine points and six rebounds while
Amaya Scott and
Amani Ball scored six points each. Eleven Lady Wildcats scored.
Ashanti Hunt nearly pulled off a double-double without scoring -- posting nine rebounds and matching a career-high with nine assists.
BCU returns to action on Sunday, December 15 at Auburn as part of a two-game swing through the SEC that includes Alabama on Tuesday, December 17.
