@BCUWBB Game Day: South Carolina State and Savannah State

After winning three out of four games on its homestand, Bethune-Cookman is back on the road for two key Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference games Saturday at 2 p.m. against South Carolina State and at 5:30 p.m. Monday against Savannah State.

The Lady Wildcats (14-9 overall, 7-4 MEAC) are currently in fourth place in the conference standings,  a half-game behind Norfolk State and a half-game ahead of Howard. Fourth place is kind of significant because it's the final first-round bye at the conference tournament March 11-16 in Norfolk, Va.

IF THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT STARTED TOMORROW: BCU would play  the Howard-Florida A&M winner in the conference quarterfinals Thursday, March 14.

BCU enters the weekend on a two-game winning streak, sweeping Norfolk State and Howard last weekend. The Lady Wildcats have won five of their last six.

KEEP THIS ROLLING: BCU needs one more victory to secure its fourth consecutive winning season.  The last time that happened in program history was from 1985-89.

STATS AND STUFF:  BCU has only been outrebounded once in its last seven games -- the North Carolina A&T loss … BCU shot 45.8 percent from the field in the Howard victory, its best shooting night in league play … BCU has scored 60 or more in its seven conference wins.

#(ANGEL) GOLDEN STATE: Senior Angel Golden needs 31 points to pass Kendra Cooper (1,302) and Gwen Davis (1,318) for fifth and fourth on the all-time scoring list … She's also eighth on the all-time steals and second on the all-time 3FG list … She's also 21st in the nation in minutes played and 35th in scoring…She became the undisputed all-time women's victory leader with 77 and needs six to become the winningest player all-time in BCU history, men's or women's.

#WHAT CAN(CHAS) BROWN DO: Senior Chasimmie Brown has six double-doubles this season, the fifth-highest total in the conference. She's been averaging a double-double in league play. Brown is also six blocks away from becoming the fourth player in program history with 100 blocks.

MORE STATS AND STUFF: Amaya Scott registered her second double-double of the season against Howard … Freshman Camary Harris is 19-23 from the line in the last three games.

ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE: The Bulldogs (12-12,5-5) are coming off a 60-55 win against Coppin State … Taylor Brown (13.7 ppg) and Rhein Beam (10.9 ppg) lead the team in scoring … This is BCU's first trip to Orangeburg since a 63-34 victory in 2017.

ABOUT SAVANNAH STATE: The Tigers (6-13,4-6) swept Coppin State and Morgan State last weekend to snap a five-game losing streak … Myasia Jones (14.3) is the scoring leader … This will be BCU's final MEAC game against Savannah State, which is moving to Division II next year.
