ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Angel Golden scored 22 points as Bethune-Cookman fended off South Carolina State 69-64 for its third consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon.
The senior from Tampa was 9-9 from the line, including two key free throws with 19 seconds remaining after South Carolina State cut BCU's 11-point lead to 66-64 on Rhein Beamon's jumper with 24 seconds left.
Camary Harris added a free throw to help the Lady Wildcats (15-9 overall, 8-4 MEAC) clinch their fourth consecutive winning season.
Chasimmie Brown added 12 points and seven rebounds for BCU, which used a 9-0 run to erase an early 13-7 to take a 16-15 lead after the first period. BCU shot 8-12 from the field in the second period to build its halftime lead to 39-31.
Armani Walker gave BCU its biggest lead at 50-35 on a free throw with four minutes remaining in the third.
Amaya Scott added seven points and eight rebounds as all nine Lady Wildcats scored.
Beamon had 16 points for the Bulldogs (12-13, 5-6) while Taylor Brown added 15.
BCU plays at Savannah State Monday at 5:30 p.m.
