Golden, Harris Help @BCUWBB Handle SSU 68-47 For 4th Straight

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Angel Golden scored 24 points, and Camary Harris posted career highs of 18 points and nine rebounds as Bethune-Cookman downed Savannah State 68-47 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Monday night.

Chasimmie Brown added 11 as the Lady Wildcats (16-9 overall, 9-4 MEAC) won their fourth straight.

Golden, a senior, vaulted past Kendra Cooper (1,302 points) into a tie with Gwen Davis for fourth on the all-time scoring list with 1,318 points. Golden was 5-8 from three-point range.

Harris, a freshman, made her first four three-pointers as she finished a rebound shy of a double-double.

Savannah State (6-15,4-8) cut an 11-0 deficit to 32-31 at the start of the third quarter, but Golden scored eight points on a 14-0 run as BCU held the Tigers to four points in the final 8:45 of the period.

Myasia Jones led the Tigers with 15.

Brown and Armani Walker (four points) each had seven rebounds as BCU outrebounded the Tigers 49-34 and held them to 27.6 shooting from the field.

BCU travels to Florida A&M Saturday.

HEAD COACH VANESSA BLAIR-LEWIS

"This is a quality road win, especially for this team that has to log a lot of minutes. I'm proud of the resiliency and fight. We had contributions from a lot of players, not just the main core."

"We weren't doing a good job of rebounding, giving up too many opportunities."

"I've been very impressed with Camary Harris' play. To be thrown out there and go through on the job training. She's been able to bounce back and give her best effort."

[On a injury-riddled team winning four straight and playing its best basketball]:  We started with this team the second week in January while everyone had going since October. We're playing well right now."

NOTES: BCU now 20-2 in February dating back to 2016-17.... SSU's 49 points and 27.6 FG% lowest for a BCU opponent since opening night against Edward Waters (46 and 27.4)... BCU now 25-1 when Golden scores 20 or more ... This was Brown's 75th career victory; her winning percentage (.681) is slightly ahead of Golden's .675.
