DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman's
Angel Golden was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, while
Camary Harris earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Golden, a senior from averaged 23.0 points per contest this past week in helping the Wildcats pick up a pair of conference victories to vault into third in the standings. She hit eight of her 15 shots from 3-point range for the week (53.3 percent) and eclipsed the 20-point mark in both games. After dropping 22 points at South Carolina State on Saturday, she turned in a 24-point effort against Savannah State – a game in which she went 5-for-8 from distance. She also had two steals in each contest, and against South Carolina State, she dished out a pair of assists.
This is the third consecutive week and sixth time this season Golden has corralled conference weekly honors.
Harris,a freshman from Suffolk, Va. had a career night on Monday against Savannah State, setting career highs in points (18) and rebounds (nine). She also went 7-for-10 from the floor in that contest, while also dishing out four assists and grabbing a steal. For the week, Harris averaged 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per contest, and she was a combined 9-for-15 (60.0 percent) from the floor.
This is her second league weekly honor.
Bethune-Cookman (16-9 overall, 9-4 MEAC) travels to Tallahassee to face archrival Florida A&M Saturday.
