@BCUWBB Game Day: NSU and Howard

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – It's a key weekend for Bethune-Cookman as the Lady Wildcats continue a four-game home stand with games against Norfolk State Saturday at 2 p.m. and Howard at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The Lady Wildcats (12-9 overall, 5-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) look to improve their seeding for next month's conference tournament in Norfolk against teams ahead of them in the standings. Norfolk State (11-10,6-2) is in third while Howard (12-8,5-3) is a half-game ahead of BCU for the fourth and final first-round bye.

IF IT ALL STARTED TOMORROW: BCU would meet Florida A&M in the play-game Monday 3/11  for the chance to play Howard in the quarterfinals.

BCU UPDATE: The Lady Wildcats are 7-2 at home this season – both setbacks in league play. BCU hasn't lost three home games in a season since going 7-5 in 2014-15.  

GOLDEN STATE: Senior Angel Golden is two victories away from becoming the undisputed winningest women's basketball player in BCU history. Golden currently has 75 wins in her playing career, the most for any BCU Division I hoops players. The program, reinstated in 1976, won 76 games from 1983-87, but individual participation records are inconclusive.

Points: 1,221. That's 82 away from overtaking Kendra Cooper for fifth on the all-time scoring list and 98 from passing Gwen Davis for rushmore (top four) status,
3FG: She's 43 away from passing Cooper for the all-time lead in this category.
3FG%: Currently shooting .359 for her career, Golden will hold the school record if she maintains this.
Steals: Needs 21 pass to Katie Clark (153) for seventh.

STATS AND STUFF: Chasimmie Brown is fourth in the MEAC in rebounding (8.2 rg) and second in FG% (.488); she's averaging a double-double (12.6 ppg, 10.8 rpg) in league play … Amaya Scott is averaging 9.9 ppg during league play … Freshman Camary Harris has started the last three games.

ABOUT NSU: The Spartans won the first meeting 57-50 on 1/14 … La'Deja James (13.6 ppg) and Raven Russell (11.4) are the leading scorers while Alexys Log (9.6 ppg) is the three-point threat.

ABOUT HOWARD: The Bison posted a 61-40 decision on 1/12 ..Four players are averaging double figures, paced by Sarah Edmond's 16.4 clip.
