NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman used strong performances from Angel Golden and Amaya Scott to move past Coppin State, 55-49, in the quarterfinal round of the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament at the Scope Arena Thursday afternoon.

Golden scored 26 points and Scott posted an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double to help the third-seeded Lady Wildcats (19-10) advance to the semifinals, where they will meet second-seeded Maryland-Eastern Shore Friday at 2 p.m.

The Wildcats outscored the Eagles (5-25) by an 18-4 count in the second quarter, holding Coppin State to 2-17 shooting from the field. It was the fewest points by a Lady Wildcat opponent in a quarter this season.

BCU built its 29-17 halftime lead to 46-32 on a Golden jumper with 5:49 remaining in the third quarter before Coppin State made its run.

Jalynda Salley's jumper with 8:52 remaining got the Eagles within 42-38, but Golden answered with a three-pointer and a lay-up that pushed BCU's lead back to 47-38. Coppin State pulled to five points three times down the stretch, but could come no closer.

Golden's 26 came off 7-23 shooting and 8-10 from the line. BCU is now 27-1 when she scores 20-or-more. Scott posted her third double-double of the year, while Chasimmie Brown finished with 11 points while Armani Walker matched a season-high with six assists.

Brooke Fields led Coppin State with 19.
