DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman punched out 10 hits, but couldn't manage any runs as Ohio State evened the series with a 6-0 victory Saturday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
OSU's Garrett Burhen threw 6 1/3 innings for the win, while Mitch Milheim and Thomas Waning combined for 2 2/3 shutout innings of relief as the Buckeyes (6-4) turned three double plays and denied four Wildcat (4-5) chances with the bases loaded.
Leadoff hitter
Zach Spivey had three hits for BCU, while
Danny Rodriguez and
Brandon Wilkes added two apiece. Spivey also registered the lone BCU extra base hit with a double.
Tyler Krull took his first loss of the season, giving up six runs (five earned) while walking three and striking out two.
Alec Mendez worked two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three while giving up just one hit.
The teams meet in the third game of the four-game series Sunday at 4 p.m. Â
