DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.– Senior Day for Bethune-Cookman was one to remember as the Wildcats outlasted visiting South Carolina State, 98-95, in overtime Saturday at Historic Moore Gym.
Malik Maitland scored a game-high 26 points while
Cletrell Pope and
Shawntrez Davis double-doubled to give BCU its sixth Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference home win of the season.
BCU (14-15, 9-6) sank three free throws with a second remaining in OT after a personal foul against SCSU's (7-24, 5-10) Ian Kinnard and a technical foul on the Bulldog bench.

Cletrell Pope made the first and missed the second to seal the Senior Day victory. Kinnard had previously tied the game at 95 on a three with eight seconds remaining.
Down 85-81 with only 23 seconds remaining after Rayshawn Neal made one of two free throws, Maitland drove for a layup six seconds later. With only five seconds to go,
Wali Parks made a short field goal in the paint to knot the game at 85 and force overtime.
The contest featured 13 lead changes and 10 ties, and was heavily scored in the paint as SCSU edged BSU, 54-540, in paint points.
Davis' double-double came on the heels of 13 points and 10 rebounds, along with a season-high five assists. Maitland also totaled five dimes and for the second time this season stole four from SCSU.
Pope was second on team with 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for his 20
thdouble-double of the year. Parks set a new season-best with 11 points off the bench.
Both team shot over 50% on the floor as BCU went 33-59 (55.9%) and SCSU was 39-73 (53.4%).
BCU ends its regular season on Thursday, Mar. 7, at home against rival Florida A&M. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
