SAVANNAH, Ga. – Bethune-Cookman opened Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader sweep at Savannah State Saturday.
Sasha Killings homered, triples and drove in three runs as the Wildcats (11-22 overall, 2-0 MEAC) won the opener 7-0. Kara Traylor also had two hits.
Alexis Bermudez picked up the win with the one-hit shutout, walking three and striking out eight. She took her no-hitter to the seventh inning, losing it on a two-out single.
In the night cap, the Wildcats scored five runs in the first inning, getting RBI singles from Killings, Sanders and Briana Sanders.
Kaiya Epps-Lee went 4-4, while Sanders was 3-3 with a double and two RBI.
The win went to
Destiny Enriquez, who struck out seven Tiger (3-16,0-2) batters.
The three-game series concludes Sunday.
