Enriquez Helps @BCUsoftball Conclude Sweep of N.C. A&T

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Destiny Enriquez retired 15 of the 17 batters she faced for the relief victory as Bethune-Cookman defeated North Carolina A&T 4-3 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference South Division game Sunday at Sunnyland Park.

Enriquez gave up an RBI double to the first Aggie batter she faced in the third, but then retired the next 13 to help the Wildcats (20-26 overall, 11-1 MEAC)  finish the series sweep of the Aggies (8-25,5-7) and set up a showdown with Florida A&M next weekend for the No. 1 seed at the MEAC tournament next month in Ormond Beach.

BCU jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead when Kaiya Epps-Lee's bunt single brought home Brianna Paysinger and Sasha Killings' single scored Cheyenne Smith and Epps-Lee.

In the second, Kayla Traylor scored on a Smith single to make it 4-0.

North Carolina A&T reached starter Alexis Bermudez for three runs in the third before Enriquez came in and picked up her seventh win of the season. She walked none and struck out three.

Smith, Killings and Kaira Cabato each had two hits for BCU.

The Wildcats travel to UCF Wednesday before next weekend's home series against Florida A&M.

NOTES: Epps-Lee finished the series with a .556 (5-9) average with eight RBI, while Killings was 4-9. Bermudez had 13 strikeouts this weekend … BCU now 2-1 with Paysinger batting leadoff.
