DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - -Alexis Bermudez picked up two more wins, and Bethune-Cookman picked up the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division series sweep of South Carolina State with victories of 8-3 and 10-0 Sunday at Sunnyland Park.
Bermudez, who won Saturday's series opener, threw four innings of one-hit relief as the Wildcats (15-25 overall, 6-0 MEAC) completed Saturday's suspended game, then the 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie Of The Year fired a four-hit shutout to keep the Wildcats atop the Southern Division.

South Carolina State led 3-0 after two innings, but the Wildcats used aggressive base running (seven stolen bases) to get back into it.

Carrington Robinson and
Quianah Mitchell scored on a passed ball and stolen base in the third to make it a one-run game. The next inning,
Yvonne Siordia and Kara Traylor scored on a fielder's choice hit by Mitchell, who later scored on a passed ball to make it 5-3.
Mitchell scored her third run of the game, along with
Brianna Sanders and
Cheyenne Smith as BCU padded its lead to 8-3.
Bermudez struck out six and walked none.

While Bermudez was scattering four hits and striking out six, Smith went 3-3 from the plate and
Brianna Paysinger and
Kaira Cabato each drove in two runs for the Wildcats.
BCU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one and pushed it to 5-0 in the third. Sanders smacked a two-run doubled and scored from second on a wild pitch to highlight BCU's five-run fourth.
Paysinger and Cabato each had two hits for the Wildcats.
For the series, Smith hit .800 (4-5) while
Jacki Smith was .667 (4-6) and Paysinger .500 (3-6) with four RBI. Sanders also had four RBI, and
Sasha Killings three.
Bermudez (8-16) Â struck out 22 and held South Carolina State to a .128 batting average in her three victories.
BCU returns to action next weekend at North Carolina Central.
