#ProCats: Durapau Called Up To Pirates

Former MEAC Pitcher of the Year is Fifth Wildcat in MLB

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Pittsburgh Pirates have selected the contract of former Bethune-Cookman University pitcher Montana Durapau. He becomes he fifth Wildcat to appear in "The Show".

A native of Deltona, Fla., Durapau was a 32nd round pick by the Pirates in the June 2014 Amateur Draft.

He began 2019 with Pittsburgh's AAA team, the Indianapolis Indians, where allowed just one earned run in 14 innings for a 0.63 ERA. In six Minor League seasons, the right-handed pitcher has a 2.47 ERA in 182 games with 295 strikeouts in 278 innings.

Durapau pitched for the Wildcats from 2011-14 and saved his best for last. As a senior, he went 11-1 with an incredible 1.61 ERA.  He collected three saves, owned three complete games, and owned 103 punch-outs compared to 23 walks. The pitcher lasted 117 innings with a WHIP of 0.85. The feats earned him the 2014 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and was a two-time All-MEAC selection.
