MOBILE, Ala. – The Bethune-Cookman University women's golf concluded its opening tournament of the 2019-20 season Monday, finishing 16
th at the USA Intercollegiate hosting by the University of South Alabama at RTG Magnolia Grove golf course.
Ana Ferreyra Heit posted a top 20 individual finish with a 54 hole total of 221 as the Lady Wildcats posted a team score of 951.
After consecutive team rounds of 307, BCU concluded the tournament with a final day 301.
"What I'm most excited about is how the final round gives us something to build on the rest of the season," said Interim Coach Robert "Tony" O'Neal. "Everyone struck the ball well and finished strong.
Sumie Francois, who registered a subpar round Sunday with a 71, finished tied for 44
th at 225.
Isabela Miravite (tied for 73
rd, 232),
Maria Cowan (tied for 82
nd, 237) and
Isabell Friberg (tied for 87
th, 241) all posted their best round of the tournament Monday, shooting 75, 76 and 77, respectively.
Tia Teiniketo (204) of Alabama-Birmingham took individual honors as UAB shaded North Florida 868-869 for the team championship.
The BCU women return to action Sunday at the Mary Fossum Invitational hosted by Michigan State.
