DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman hosts its 2019 season opener Tuesday when the Lady Wildcats host South Florida at 6 p.m. in Historic Moore Gymnasium.

This is the first of 11 home matches for the Lady Wildcats, including eight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matches that begin Friday against defending champion Howard.

BCU (3-8) wrapped up the tournament portion of its 2019 season last weekend in Mobile, Ala., finishing 1-2 at the Jaguar Invitational after taking a five-set decision against Nicholls State.

BCU UPDATE: Junior Jordan Jefferson moved up to fourth on the all-time digs list this weekend – she now has 829. She needs 34 digs to move past Melissa Sanders for third and can also move into the top ten all-time kills list with nine … Faith Landreneaux is still all over the MEAC leader board at third in hitting percentage (.318), fifthe in service aces (.41 per set) and  fourth in blocks (.89 per set) … Sterling Williamson is sixth in hitting percentage (.250) and Tynesha Adams tenth in blocks (.77 per set) … Freshman Bailey Robinson had a pair of 13-kill matches last weekend … The team had 28 blocks.

ABOUT USF: The Bulls (5-8) downed Stetson 3-0 in the final game of their invitational Saturday. Their non-conference schedule has included No. 10 Florida, Auburn, Miami and Indiana.  Lindsey Pliapoi (164 kills) and Jac'cara Walker (160) lead the offense.
