@BCUWBB's Blair-Lewis To Be Enshrined Alongside Her Father In Their HS Hall Of Fame

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University Women's Head Basketball Coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis will be enshrined alongside her father, Robert Blair, in the inaugural Largo (Md.) High School Athletic Hall of Fame on October 6, 2019.

In addition to her success on the court at Largo HS from 1984-88, Blair-Lewis helped set the stage for her father, a 20-year coaching veteran, winning the 1997 Maryland 4A championship by serving as her dad's assistant coach from 1994-96.

"Vanessa and her father have had a significant influence on Largo HS," said Largo Athletic Director Ayanna Ball-Ward, who played on that 1997 championship team and has won a state girls basketball championship of her own. "We're excited that their contributions will be chronicled amongst the great coaches and athletes who have impacted this athletic department."

Blair-Lewis had her playing jersey retired at her college alma mater, Mount St. Mary's, last year. Being enshrined with her father should be as memorable a moment.

"I am so humbled by this honor. Largo High School helped to set a valuable foundation in my young life," Blair-Lewis said. "The coaches, teachers and my teammates all poured into my life to help me become the person that I am today. This occasion is even more special because I am able to share it with my father and the other amazing inductees."

Now in her 12th season at BCU, Blair-Lewis is coming off a 21-11 campaign – her third straight 20-win season --  that saw the Lady Wildcats overcome the loss of key players to injury to defeat Norfolk State 57-45 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament championship for their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance.
