HOUSTON – Jordan Jefferson registered her 34th career double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs as Bethune-Cookman downed Texas Southern 3-1 (26-28, 25-16,25-12,25-17) at Barnett Fieldhouse.
Tynesha Adams added 11 kills and matched a career-high with six blocks, and
Faith Landreneaux posted 10 kills, five service aces and four blocks as the Lady Wildcats (1-3) registered their first win of the season in the first of a two-match series with the Lady Tigers (1-3). Friday's match will be at Austin HS in Sugarland, Tex. – Head Coach

After squandering a 23-20 lead in dropping the first set, BCU only trailed twice – 1-0 and 3-1 in the second set – to convincingly take the final three sets. The Lady Wildcats jumped out to leads of 8-0 in the third set and 9-2 in the fourth. Texas Southern never got closer than four points in either of those final two sets after the BCU starts.
Shayla Eugene led the BCU defense with 18 digs, while
Miranda White posted 12 digs in addition to five kills.
Ryleigh Taylor and
Kortney Curtis finished with 27 and 16 assists, respectively.
