DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University's
Cletrell Pope has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player Of The Week for the seventh time this season, the league announced today [February 18, 2020].
The 6-9 senior from Northport, Ala. averaged 14.5 points and 15.5 rebounds last week for the Wildcats as they went 1-1 with a win over Delaware State.
In the win over the Hornets, Pope was 7-for-8 from the floor and finished the game with 19 points and 16 rebounds. He now has 14 double-doubles on the season after recording 10 points and 15 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Pope leads the nation in offensive rebounds (4.52 per game) and is fourth in overall rebounding (11.7 per game).
BCU (13-13 overall, 7-5 MEAC) hosts South Carolina State Saturday.
