DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A series of strong pitching performances ended Sunday with Bethune-Cookman dropping a 4-0 decision to Central Connecticut State at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
CCSU's Anthony Mozzicato threw seven shutout innings as the Blue Devils (2-1) Â took the series, both wins coming via shutout.
Alejandro Valiente (1-1) took the loss for BCU, now 4-3. He struck out five, but two unearned runs and another on a wild pitch allowed CCSU to pull away from a 1-0 game.
Steven Ortiz,
Isaak Gutierrez and
Rafael Perez- Guzman combined for 4.1 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief. Gutierrez struck out two in the eighth.
Fabian Escalante,
Enrique Porchas,
Ryan Ayrey and
Boris Pena had BCU's hits.
The Wildcats host UCF Tuesday.
