DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Ashanti Hunt and
Amaya Scott each scored 15 points as Bethune-Cookman won its ninth straight with a 70-50 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over North Carolina A&T Saturday in Moore Gym.
Daniella Hatcher added 14 as the Lady Wildcats (17-5 overall, 8-1 conference) remained tied atop the league standings with Norfolk State, who needed overtime to defeat Delaware State 65-57.
BCU built upon its 41-32 halftime lead by holding the Aggies (15-7,7-3) to 5-32 shooting from the field in the second half. The Lady Wildcats led by as many as 24 points in the fourth quarter at 68-44 on a
Tatum Hayes lay-up with 7:20 remaining.
Kiana Williams gave BCU a 12-11 first quarter lead that stretched out to 20-15 after the first 10 minutes. Two Hatcher free throws put BCU ahead 37-23 with 3:25 remaining in the half.
Hunt's 15 were a season-high, while Scott also had 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year. Williams had nine points and six assists while
Ashlie Howell had seven points.
