DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After her monstrous, ten-block performance on Sunday, Bethune-Cookman University middle blocker Alleah Dallas was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday.

Dallas, a redshirt-sophomore from Houston, Tex., has been a force at the front of the net for the Wildcats all season. Dallas leads the SWAC with an average of 1.07 blocks per set. She ranks second in the conference with 72 total blocks – only three shy of the conference lead, despite Dallas having played 13 fewer sets than the leader.

In two games this past weekend, Dallas compiled 14 total blocks, ten assists and four solo blocks. Ten of those blocks came in Sunday's match against Jackson State, tying Dallas for third in program history in blocks in a single game.

The Wildcats lead the SWAC in blocks per set with 2.16. Wildcats head coach Brittany Williams spoke about Dallas's importance to her team:

"Alleah has worked very hard this season," Williams said. "She is a huge part of why we've been the number one blocking team in the conference. Her presence at the net is dominating and her energy on defense is contagious."

This is Dallas's first SWAC weekly honor of her career.

The Wildcats will continue SWAC conference play with three games in Grambling, La., this weekend, beginning with a matchup with Arkansas – Pine Bluff on Saturday, Oct 30 at 1 p.m.
