GRAMBLING, La. – The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats stuffed the stat sheet, but they could not pull off a victory over Texas Southern in their final match of the Grambling cluster, Sunday afternoon in Louisiana.
Bethune-Cookman (5-19, 5-8 SWAC) dropped the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-17. The Wildcats battled through a tight third set before finally taking it, 27-25 on a set error by the Tigers (7-21, 6-8 SWAC). The Tigers would eventually prevail in another close fourth set to take the match, 3-1.
Despite the loss, the Wildcats had several strong individual performances in the contest.
Jasmine Moore led the match with 19 kills. B-CU's offense ran through
Kortney Curtis who finished with 35 assists.
The SWAC's No. 1 blocking team showed out with nine total blocks. Five different players were credited with at least one block assist. Reigning SWAC Defensive Player of the Week
Alleah Dallas defended her spot with five block assists and a solo block.
Nyasia John finished with a solo block and three assists as well.
The Wildcats will begin the home stretch of their regular season next weekend with a trip to Tallahassee to take on FAMU, Friday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m.
