Robinson Scores 3 TDs in @BCUGridiron's 31-14 win at GSU

GRAMBLING, La. – Jimmie Robinson III scored three first-half touchdowns as Bethune-Cookman downed Grambling State 31-14 in Southwestern Athletic Conference football actions Saturday.

Robinson, who finished with 98 yards on 15 carries, helped the Wildcats (2-8 overall, 2-5 SWAC) jump out to 17-0 and 24-7 leads as their won their second straight while handling the Tigers (3-7,2-5) their third straight setback.

LaDerrien Wilson scored the other Wildcat touchdown on a 30-yard fourth quarter run that all but sealed B-CU's third consecutive win over Grambling in the Terry Sims era.

The Wildcat defense limited Grambling to 186 total yards and set up three of the four Wildcat touchdowns with a forced turnover.

Uriah Ratliffe's fumble recovery set up the first Wildcat with a fumble recovery at the Wildcat 47. Four plays later, including a 33-yard Devin Black to Darryl Powell completion, Robinson scored from the three  for a 7-0 B-CU lead with 4:04 remaining in the first quarter.

Omari Hill-Robinson registered an interception on a later Grambling possession. The Wildcats took advantage, on the second one, driving 69 yards on six plays culminating on Robinson's  two-yarder with 17 seconds left in the opening period.

Dylan Moghaddam's 32-yard field goal with 9:44 left in the half made it 17-0.

After Grambling cut it to 17-7, Robinson rushed for 41 yards on a 56-yard drive that produced his third touchdown of the half 17 seconds before intermission and gave B-CU a 24-7 advantage.

Leading 24-14, Cal Sutherland's fourth-quarter interception put B-CU at the Tiger 45, and Wilson's breakaway five plays later put B-CU back up by 17 with 5:46 left.

Devin Black threw for 111 yards for B-CU with Kemari Averett catching three passes for 34 yards. Que'Shaun Byrd rushed for 59 yards on 14 attempts.

Defensively, Untareo Jackson had nine tackles to pace an effort than including four sacks and four turnovers.

B-CU concludes its season next Saturday in Orlando in the Florida Blue Florida Classic against archrival Florida A&M.
