DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --
Joe French has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, the conference office announced Friday. French was also named to the Preseason All-SWAC First Team.
French finished the season fourth in the SWAC in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game. He shot 45.3 percent from the field ranking sixth-best in the conference. Most impressively, he shot 44.1 percent from behind the arc for the season which was the highest mark in the SWAC. French remained efficient despite attempting the second most three-pointers per game in the conference at 170 while making 75 of those attempts.
French adds to an impressive list of honors as he begins his third season as a Wildcat. The sharpshooter was named to the 2019-2020 MEAC All-Rookie team after an excellent freshman season. Last season, he was named to the All-SWAC Second Team, as well as the 2022 BOXTOROW All-American Second Team. He has earned conference weekly honors twice in his career.
In the annual preseason predicted order of finish, the Wildcats were picked to finish eighth.
