Wildcats Battle Braves for Final Road Contest of 2022

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.  – The final road game of the season is on deck for the Wildcats, as they head to Lorman, Miss., to take on the Braves of Alcorn State, Saturday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m.

The Wildcats departed for Lorman a bit early this week over the threat of Hurricane Nicole. The Wildcats left Daytona Beach via bus Wednesday morning to avoid incoming weather and airport closures. All B-CU home events from Thursday-Sunday were postponed or cancelled, but campus did not sustain any significant damage. 
 
The Wildcats have made Jackson, Miss. their home for the past few days, practicing at Jackson State.
 
Groud and Pound
 
The Wildcats have rushed for over 170 yards as a team in six of nine games this season. Que'Shaun Byrd has paced the Wildcats rushing attack with over 100 yards rushing four times thsi season.
 
Until the Final Whistle
The Wildcats have gone into halftime tied or ahead in four games this season. They won only one of those contests. The Wildcats led at the break in each of the past two weeks and dropped both.
 
When Last We Met
In last season's meeting, the first ever between the two programs, the Wildcats were victorious, taking a 35-31 decision. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for B-CU. Kemari Averett enjoyed a monster day with five receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Kemari Keeps Catching
 
Averett caught five catches against ASU last week to extend his B-CU pass catching streak to 20 games. One pass went for a touchdown, his fifth of the year.
 
BYRD IS THE WORD

Que'Shaun Byrd rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown versus AL­abama State, marking his seventh career 100-yard game. He has also caught a pass in seven of the eight games. 

DEAS IS NUTS
 
Darnell Deas remains the premier kick returner in the SWAC this season. He averages a confer­ence-best 28.3 yards per return, and is the only returner with multiple touchdowns this season. He has 679 return yards this sea­son, over 300 more than the next closest player.
 
KEEPING UP WITH THE JONES

Jalon Jones has 15 total touch­downs this season, 11 rushing and 4 passing. He surpasses the mark set by any B-CU QB last season. He is second in the SWAC in total offense among QBs this season.
 
THIRD DOWN STRUGGLES
 
The Wildcats rank last in the SWAC in opponent 3rd down conver­sions. Opposing squads covert nearly 50 percent of third downs against B-CU..
 
AGENT ZERO
Despite not appearing in B-CU's first two games of the season, LB Rosendo Louis quietly ranks in the SWAC's top 10 in tackles per game this season.
