Daytona Beach, FL – For the first time in the history of Bethune-Cookman basketball, Moore Gymnasium will play host to the bright lights of ESPNU, Monday night at 9:05 p.m. Doors will open at 8 p.m.
 
The Wildcats welcome in Alabama State as they wrap up their 2022 home schedule in front of a national audience on their home court.
 
Monday's game will be a Wildcats White Out, with fans receiving free T-shirts and food while supplies last. It is also senior day, as the Wildcats will honor Jakolby Long in the final home game of his Wildcats' career.

Last Time Out
 
The Wildcats fell to Alabama A&M Saturday night, 62-60. B-CU led by double-digits early in the game but could not hold on in a game that stayed close late. The Wildcats led the Bulldogs in rebounds, assists, steals and points off turnovers, second-chance points, and three-point percentage. Marcus Garrett led the Wildcats with 21 points, and two other Wildcats scored in double figures, but it was not enough.
 
Scouting the Hornets
 
Alabama State is 6-20 and 5-9 in SWAC play this season. Last time the Hornets and Wildcats met, B-CU fell, 79-73, despite 27 points from Joe French and 24 from Marcus Garrett. The Hornets are 1-4 since including back-to-back losses at home against Arkansas – Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State and a road loss at Florida A&M.
 
Alabama State scores 67 points per game and allows 75 per game. The Hornets are shooting 41 percent from the field and 32 percent from deep this season.
 
The Hornets are led on offence by Trace Young's 11.8 points per game. He also averages 5.1 rebounds per game. Jordan O'Neal has blocked 30 shots on the season.

  • Three Wildcats are in the top 15 in scoring in the SWAC this season. Joe French, Kevin Davis, and Marcus Garrett each crack the leaderboard.
  • Joe French is the SWAC's most accurate three-point shooter – his 42 percent 3PT% is over six percent higher than the next-best qualified shooter.
  • Davis ranks second in the SWAC in rebounds per game at 7.8.
  • The Wildcats have gotten to the free throw line at least 15 times in 17 of 26 games this season, including seven of their last nine.
  • B-CU has made at least one three-pointer in every game this season, and at least three in nine straight games

Monday's game will be the thirty-third meeting between Alabama State and B-CU. The Hornets hold a 18-14 edge in the series.
